Coach & Friend Jason Micklethwaite

Updated: Aug 4, 2020

It is with great sadness that I have to announce that Jason passed away peacefully in hospital yesterday morning following a short illness.

This is of course devastating news. Jason has been an integral part of our team and so passionate to such an extent that he had blue blood running through him. He loved helping the boys develop. His booming voice was a great motivator for the players as this would be full of praise and encouragement. He was our official photographer taking hundreds of pictures of the team, including pictures on our Madrid tour that will stay with us forever. His highlight of his week was giving out the man of the match trophy which we will now rename the 'Micklethwaite Man of the Match' trophy.

He not only has Lucas playing for our club in the U14 Blue team. He also has Grace who plays for the current U12 girls team. His wife Catherine runs the tea stall for that team. The whole family is an integral part of our club.

Jason was also an amazing person, a true gentleman, so positive and cared deeply for his friends and family. He was a great father to Lucas and Grace and a great husband to Catherine.

We will miss him very much.

We will do everything we can to support the family.

Our deepest condolences to Jason's family.
