New Team Official Application Form 

First and foremost, we would like to say a big thank you for showing an interest in becoming a Manager, Coach or Assistant Coach at our club.

​

Being a Team Official at Garforth Villa, whether that is as a Manager, Coach or Assistant Coach, is a hugely valued role – one that directly impacts the development of our players and the strength of the Club as a whole. When you apply for this role each season, you’re asked to confirm your commitment to the club duties and responsibilities.

At Garforth Villa, we set clear expectations for every team official. These standards aren’t just rules — they are the foundation of a safe, supportive, and enjoyable football environment for every child, parent, and volunteer involved in our club.

By completing the application form you confirm your commitment to:

​

  • Keep your qualifications and certifications up to date.

  • Stay engaged with club meetings, news, and policies.

  • Coach in line with Garforth Villa’s philosophy — built on player development, enjoyment, and respect.

 

By putting this agreement in writing, we strengthen our shared responsibility to the club and to each other.

For over 50 years, Garforth Villa has proudly coached grassroots football, creating opportunities for children to play, learn, and grow through the game. Our success is built on the energy, care, and commitment of volunteers like you. By setting the benchmark, we not only safeguard the future of the club but also ensure that every child’s football journey is positive, meaningful, and lasting.​​​​

What are the Club duties?


By accepting a role as a Team Official, you are agreeing to:

Dedicate the time to the team as required 

  • By consistently being at training and match day can only help improve the experience of our players.

  • Helps foster a real team environment.

 

Follow and promote the Club’s Coaching Philosophy

  • Ensuring a consistent, player-focused approach across all age groups.


Attend the Club’s CPD Day

  • Held annually on the first or secondSunday in June, this event helps you stay informed, connected, and supported in your role.


Attend Seasonal Meetings

  • These include online and face to face meetings.


Support Club Events

  • Help with Presentation Day setup on the Saturday morning.

  • Help with the Gala setup on the Friday afternoon.


Maintain Your Qualifications

  • Keeping your first aid and safeguarding qualifications and DBS check up to date is essential.


Team Managers only

  • Ensure players are up to date with their monthly membership fees.

  • Ensure that squad lists are always up to date on the Club Portal and SportMember.

  • Ensure that scores and team sheets are submitted correctly and on time.


Reimburse the Club

  • If you leave the club within two years, you will reimburse us for any expenses we have paid for your coaching qualifications.

  • Events at the Garforth Golf Club and Garforth Country Club and CPD Day include food and a social atmosphere because we want to recognise your time and effort.


A True Club Community

  • We want all our volunteers to feel part of the Villa family, building connections, sharing knowledge, being part of the decision making process and supporting one another.


Continuous Development

  • The more confident and informed you are as a coach, the more your players benefit and the more rewarding your role becomes.


Clear Communication

  • We believe in sharing important decisions directly from the committee — no confusion, no mixed messages.


Efficiency and Respect for Volunteers

  • When Team Officials fulfil their basic responsibilities, it allows the committee (who are also volunteers) to focus on supporting the club instead of fixing avoidable issues.

Are These Commitments Reasonable?


We believe they are. For example:

​

  • Coaches and Assistant Coaches are only required to attend one in-person meeting and the CPD Day each season.

  • Helping at Presentation and Gala Days is something every team is expected to do — and in return, others help when it’s your team’s turn.

  • All dates are shared months in advance so you have time to plan ahead.

  • All main club events take place in June.

  • Presentation Day, held on the final Sunday of June, marks the perfect conclusion to the season—a time to reflect, recharge, and celebrate collective growth. It serves as a natural end to the season, after which all teams take a well-earned 4–5 week break to reset both mentally and physically, laying the foundation for a fresh and focused return.

 

When are the various main club events?

  • Wednesday 2/9/26 at 6.30pm - Age Group Meeting for all Team Officials (Zoom)

  • Sunday 13/6/27 - CPD Day (West Riding County FA)

  • Saturday 19/6/27 & Sunday 20/6/27 - Gala (Garforth Academy)

  • Saturday 26/5/27 - Presentation Day (Brierlands)

 

We completely understand that everyone has work and personal commitments — we just ask that you honour the commitments you sign up for, or communicate early if something changes.
